What is Linear HIFU (Ultraformer MPT) ?

Linear HIFU is the only treatment method utilizing HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) technology designed for efficient targeting of submental fat layers, employing a linear irradiation method.

Originally developed for lifting and tightening purposes, HIFU treatment devices typically utilize dot-like irradiation known as Dot HIFU.

In contrast, Linear HIFU, aimed at fat dissolution, uniformly spreads heat over a wide area in a single application to subcutaneous tissues (fat layers). This method features the ability to irradiate at temperatures necessary for fat dissolution, surpassing traditional HIFU devices, making it suitable for individuals seeking localized volume reduction, such as submental fat.

How Linear HIFU (Ultraformer MPT) Works

HIFU concentrates ultrasound waves at a single point in the subcutaneous tissue and SMAS fascia.

SMAS fascia, located deep within the skin, historically could only be accessed through surgical procedures. However, with HIFU, it’s possible to target the SMAS fascia, which offers potential tightening effects.

The primary foundation supporting the skin is the SMAS fascia (deep skin layer formed by collagen), underlying the subcutaneous tissue, dermis, and epidermis layers. Tightening and lifting this foundational SMAS fascia can effectively address fundamental issues of sagging.

This treatment not only facilitates overall facial lifting but also holds promise for treating pores that have enlarged due to sagging, commonly referred to as “sagging pores”.

Linear HIFU is

Linear HIFU is not a treatment involving injecting drugs into the body like fat-dissolving injections, nor does it freeze and destroy fat cells like CoolSculpting® Elite (CoolSculpting Double).

By attaching a "linear cartridge" to the conventional Ultraformer MPT HIFU device, it is now possible to irradiate HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) in a linear fashion rather than the traditional point-by-point method. Linear irradiation allows heat to spread widely, effectively applying heat to the fat layer and dissolving fat cells.

Due to its focus along a line, Linear HIFU cannot elevate the temperature in the irradiated area as much as dot HIFU.

Therefore, while its tightening effects are less compared to dot HIFU, when the temperature in the treated area reaches around 58 degrees Celsius, human fat cells begin to melt. Utilizing this effect, when applied under the chin and along the jawline, the energy is absorbed in the body and further converted into heat, thus destroying fat cells.

Although Linear HIFU has a reduced protein tightening effect compared to dot HIFU, it can target fat cell destruction over a wider area, enabling localized slimming at the treated site. Areas like the jawline and under the chin are often resistant to reduction through diet and exercise alone, but Linear HIFU can achieve size reduction in these areas.

Effectiveness of Linear HIFU

While Linear HIFU does not have as strong a tightening effect as dot HIFU, it does improve skin elasticity, with its primary goal being size reduction.

In comparison, individuals in their twenties often seek Linear HIFU for reducing the size under the chin and refining the jawline. Younger individuals may not be as concerned about skin firmness at this stage.

As people enter their thirties and beyond, there is a growing desire for HIFU treatments, primarily to address nasolabial folds, skin sagging, and to enhance skin firmness.

Pain in HIFU Treatment

HIFU involves applying heat to the skin, which can cause mild burns as part of the therapy. Advances in medical technology have significantly reduced the pain associated with the procedure, but complete painlessness is not guaranteed. Particularly when targeting areas close to bones, the discomfort can be more intense.
