Types of photofacial devices and their feature comparisons

Photofacial is a treatment that is effective in improving various skin problems by irradiating the entire face with a special light called IPL (Intense Pulsed Light).

It reacts with multiple pigments, such as melanin pigment, which causes dark spots and freckles, and hemoglobin, which causes redness, and can improve various skin problems at the same time.

It is a very popular menu at our clinic because there is almost no pain or downtime, and you can go home immediately after the treatment with makeup on.

There are many types of photofacial machines.

This time, we will explain the differences between the most common ones.

Lumecca

Lumecca is an IPL treatment device manufactured by NVASIX, an Israeli company.

The output of the short wavelength light range (500-600nm), which is said to be effective against age spots, is uniquely designed to be extremely high at 40%, compared to the 15% energy efficiency of many other IPL treatment machines.

Therefore, you can experience the skin-beautifying effect after just 1-3 treatments.

Recommended for those who want to improve skin problems with fewer sessions.

BBLs

BBLs is an IPL treatment device developed by Cyton, an American company known as the King of Lasers in America.

BBL stands for broadband light, and it has seven types of filters and three types of adapters. It is a device that uses short and long wavelength filters to act on the epidermis and dermis.

Furthermore, four different spot sizes allow for efficient treatment according to the size of the spots.

Recommended for those who want to improve a wide range of skin problems.

M22

M22 is manufactured by Luminous.

It is used in many clinics for photofacials.

There are six types of filters, from which you can select the optimal light for your skin concerns and adjust the output more precisely.

The skin is cooled while the light is irradiated, so the risk of burns and skin damage can be reduced during treatment.

You can choose the light frequency according to your concerns, such as skin spots, dullness, redness, fine wrinkles, sagging, and pores, so it is easy to feel the effects for each concern.

Another popular feature is that it can be irradiated in melasma mode for those with melasma.

Stella M22

The Stella M22, like the M22, is manufactured by Luminous.

It was approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in February 2021, and is the latest treatment machine, an upgraded version of the M22 introduced above.

Similar to the M22, the Stella M22 converts the wavelength range by changing the filter, but it is equipped with nine types of filters, so it is possible to perform treatments that are suitable for each individual according to the skin condition.

In addition to the traditional treatment for age spots and melasma, the range of treatments has expanded to include acne inflammation and telangiectasia, allowing for more personalized treatment.

We have introduced it at our clinic and it is our most popular treatment.

Summary

There are many more photofacial machines that we have not introduced here.

Each manufacturer develops machines with characteristics that suit your skin, so we recommend that you proceed with treatment with one that suits your skin.

However, it is difficult to eliminate all skin problems with just one treatment with all treatment machines, so continued treatment is important.

Photofacial is the most popular treatment in our skincare treatments.

Please consider using this machine for your treatment.
