5 Habits That Can Lead to Acne

Hello, this is MY Beauty Clinic.

This time, we would like to introduce the factors that cause acne and lifestyle habits that make it easier to develop.

There are two main factors that cause acne:

① Clogged pores due to skin turnover

Acne occurs when pores become clogged with sebum and waste, allowing acne bacteria to grow. The cause of clogged pores is disrupted skin turnover.

When skin turnover is disrupted, old skin remains on the surface of the skin, leading to clogged pores.

② Excessive sebum secretion

Sebum moisturizes the skin to prevent dryness, but excessive secretion can clog pores and lead to acne.

Sebum secretion increases depending on factors such as diet and hormone balance.

Now, let us introduce the lifestyle habits that make acne easier to develop.

① Incomplete makeup removal

If makeup is not completely removed, pores can become clogged, leading to acne.

Waterproof makeup products are difficult to remove, so it is recommended to use cleansing agents suitable for your regular makeup products.

If you are unsure, we can guide you when you visit our clinic.

② Insufficient moisturizing

If moisturizing is insufficient, the skin’s barrier function decreases, making it easier for acne to develop due to dryness.

Using only lotion may lead to moisture evaporation and skin dryness. It is important to use emulsions and creams for adequate moisturizing.

③ Accumulating stress

Excessive stress affects the autonomic nervous system and disrupts skin turnover.

If hormone balance cannot be controlled properly, large amounts of androgens, male hormones, are produced.

Androgens promote sebum secretion, leading to oily skin and acne. It is important to reduce stress by engaging in light exercise and creating relaxing times.

④ Irregular sleep patterns

Irregular sleep patterns and frequent sleep deprivation disrupt skin turnover, making acne more likely to develop.

During sleep, new skin is generated, so insufficient sleep prevents new skin from forming and leaves old skin on the surface.

Try to sleep at the same time every day to regulate skin turnover and prevent acne.

⑤ Poor diet

Eating oily foods increases sebum secretion, making acne more likely to develop.

However, completely avoiding fats can lead to dry skin. It is important to eat a balanced diet and maintain a healthy gut environment.

How about that? Have you ever felt like you wanted to eat junk food, get tired, don’t remove your makeup or moisturize, and just go to bed…

We kindly ask you to strive for good skincare habits♪

We offer both private treatments and partially covered medical treatments for skincare and acne treatments.

If you are in a hurry, we can prescribe oral acne medication only.
