What causes acne?

Hello.

This is MY Beauty Clinic.

Acne, a condition known as acne, is actually a skin disease called acne vulgaris.
Acne, the red bumps that often appear on the face, chest, back, etc., is a condition in which hair follicles (the sac-like parts at the base of the hair) and sebaceous glands are inflamed.

Acne is mainly caused by the following three points

1. Excessive secretion of sebum
2. Blocked pores
3. Proliferation of acne bacteria

The skin repeats a “turnover” cycle in which the keratin peels off and is replaced by new skin cells about every 28 days.

Normal sebum is discharged from pores along with sweat, but if the turnover does not go well, the keratin in the pores becomes thicker, the pores become blocked, and the sebum becomes clogged.

This causes the “Acne bacteria” that feed on sebum to grow excessively, causing inflammation and acne. Not only does the keratin thicken, but excessive sebum secretion also clogs the pores.

Types of Acne

Acne is classified into four types, from mild to severe, depending on the progression of the symptoms.
It progresses in the following order: “white acne → black acne → red acne → yellow acne (pustular acne)”.

After “red acne” becomes inflamed and swollen, it becomes difficult to improve it. In addition, the possibility of acne scars in the future increases.

The causes of acne vary depending on the location, symptoms, age and gender.

Therefore, if you do not take care of your acne in a way that suits the cause, your symptoms may worsen.

If you take care of acne early, you will not be troubled by acne scars afterwards. If it does not improve, acne keeps coming back to the same place, or it gets worse without any effect, we recommend that you visit a dermatologist or cosmetic dermatologist.

At our clinic, we can also prescribe oral acne medication.

Online consultations are also available, so please feel free to contact us.
